Japan: KOJIMA Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced its intention to establish a Khmer village aimed at enhancing the dissemination of Khmer cultural traditions in Japan, with the ultimate goal of fostering closer relations between the people of the two countries.

This announcement came following a meeting between the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, and the President of KOJIMA Holdings Co., Ltd., KOJIMA Masanobu. The meeting took place on the morning of December 18, 2023, during the 50th ASEAN-Japan Anniversary Summit held from December 15 to 19, 2023, in Tokyo, Japan.

During the meeting, Mr. Kojima Masanobu briefed the Prime Minister on the company's initiatives in Cambodia. KOJIMA Holdings Co., Ltd. has established a Cambodian private business center in Asuki, Kanagawa Prefecture, which serves as a crucial hub for providing trade and investment information related to Cambodia. The center also promotes Cambodian products, culinary culture, facilitates cultural exchange, offers human resource training, and supports business activities.

Additionally, Mr. Masanobu shared the company's plans to expand its investments in Cambodia, particularly in the export-oriented agriculture sector. Furthermore, the company intends to establish a Khmer village in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, to raise awareness of Khmer culture in Japan. This initiative is aimed at further strengthening the people-to-people relations between the two countries.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed gratitude for the company's investments in Cambodia, recognizing their significant contribution to the country's economic growth. He also commended the company for its efforts in training and facilitating the employment of Cambodian trainees in Japan, which has had a positive impact on Cambodia in terms of job creation, income generation, and poverty reduction. The Prime Minister emphasized that this initiative not only provides immediate benefits but also contributes to building a skilled Cambodian workforce for the nation's future.
